Editorial Standards and Methodology
Money Tracker Daily is an independent publication of Digital Fancy LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. This page describes how our data is collected and checked.
Money Tracker Daily publishes data, not opinions. These are the rules every page follows.
Sources
Every tracker value comes from one named primary source: a government agency, a regulator, or the organisation that produces the figure. The source is linked on the page, next to the data. We don't use aggregators or secondary reporting as sources.
Update schedule
Each tracker lists its cadence and the last time its data changed and was checked. Trackers update in place at a permanent address; we never republish the same data as a new page.
Automation
Collection, checking and page generation are automated. Software downloads each source, extracts values with fixed rules written for that source, and builds pages from templates. Where a source is too messy for fixed rules, an AI model may help extract values, and those values must pass the same checks as any other. AI may also draft the Daily Money Brief, strictly from recorded tracker changes, with no outside information. The editor reviews system reports and flagged values, and every new tracker is checked by hand against its source before it runs unattended.
Verification checks
- Values must be present, of the right type, and within a plausible range.
- Changes from the previous value must be within set limits (for example, mortgage rates moving less than 1.5 points in a week).
- Dates must be newer than the last recorded date.
- Where a source publishes its own rules, such as the SSA's payment rules, values are checked against them.
If a check fails, the page keeps its last verified values, shows a notice that the data could not be refreshed, and the editor is alerted. Values that fail these checks are not published automatically. No automated system is perfect; if you find an error, see Corrections.
What each tracker adds
Beyond the source figures, each tracker has its own chart, a change log, a plain-language methodology note and, where the source's terms allow, a CSV download.
