30-year mortgage rate 7.40%; new WARN notices in California

Freddie Mac's survey for the week of Oct 8, 2026 put the 30-year fixed rate at 7.40%, up 0.12 from 7.28%, and the 15-year fixed at 6.73%, up 0.13 from 6.60%.
